Welcome to the website of The Competition Law Association.
We are the British Group of the International League of Competition
Law (Ligue Internationale du Droit de la Concurrence - LIDC). We promote
the study and discussion of the law and commercial practices affecting
competition, both nationally and internationally.
The CLA runs a series of luncheon
and evening meetings, principally in London, with distinguished
speakers in the field of competition law and intellectual property
law. Recent topics have included the exhaustion of industrial property
rights, the role of trade marks in consumer protection, competition
policy in sport, and the role and future direction of the Office
of Fair Trading.
The LIDC
holds an international annual conference at which a variety of topics
of current interest are discussed.
Membership of the Association is composed principally of barristers,
solicitors, patent and trade mark agents, and is open to all those
interested in its objectives, whether in industry, private practice
or academic life. See our membership
form for more details.
